Dominican Republic was my least favorite island, mostly due to the poverty. Although it's 240 miles long by 170 miles wide, I saw a very small part of it and heard that our port of Samana was not the most popular. So while their slogan is "Dominican Republic has it all," I did not see it all. My next cruise will dock further up the coast at a more touristy port and I'm anticipating a nicer experience.
